It’s been a long season for the Husker baseball team, plodding through their first loosing season since 1997. They’ve been in nine post-season tournaments in the last 10 years, but not this year. Nearly every game I’ve shot it’s been cold, as in winter coat and gloves, or rainy. Here are some of my favorites from the season. Don’t let the sunshine fool you, it was cold. There were a series of halftime shows during Nebraska basketball games this season that were pretty good. I suspect they were touring acts from the television show “America’s Got Talent,” because this guy, Joseph Hall, Elvis impersonator and Lincolnite, and some other acts from the show performed. Never saw the show myself, but they appear to be living the dream. There was 13:12 left in halftime when I took this.

We just finished up our spring run of high school tournaments culminating with boys basketball last weekend. Always fun, but by the end of a month of weekend championships, preceded by districts, it turns into a grind. I shot the Hay Springs flag team for part of an online feature story. Playing around with shutter speeds I got this. I’m not sure one could tell what it is unless told, and maybe that’s why I like it.

It ain’t green, but we went golfing. Jacob and I took advantage of a spike in temperature to hit the links. What you can’t see in this picture is the 40-mph wind that nearly blew us over teeing-off a couple of times.
I should point out that Jacob is in the ruff to the right of the green, not an uncommon geographic position for his tactical style of play. There is a fairway behind him, just on the other side of that itty-bitty tree. Kind of hard to tell the difference.
All in all, a good day.

I know how much my blog brightens everyone’s lives so I apologize for being remiss in my postings of late. Part of the problem was my computer was getting its oil changed for about a week, the other part was lack of motivation.
However, I am sure you will be delighted to hear I’ve several posts coming this week, including a super-duper special one I’m saving for the weekend. You won’t want to miss it.
Gwyneth assisted me last week shooting two, up and coming Husker pitchers.

I’ve been wanting to use these giant baseballs in front of Haymarket Park ever since they arrived. McNamara used them a couple years ago so I had to do something different. These guys were great to work with, which isn’t always the case with athletes.

I wouldn’t want to shoot there every night, but I’ve always enjoyed Murdock’s gym.

I couldn’t get the flag in this picture, but I don’t think it’s needed.

A new year, a new look, blog-wise anyway, since there’s not much I can do about my mug. I added categories because if I didn’t, there was no point is using this way cool theme. Don’t worry. All new posts are displayed up front and you won’t have to go hunting for them. They will be categorized if you want to come back and look at them again, like, maybe for your PhD research or something. The old blog will exist in cyberspace until the Rapture (click the Sower for 2008).
For those of you who like to comment, I am simplifying things. You will not have to register or go through that whole rigmarole anymore. Can’t say that I’ve ever seen inappropriate comments on blogs in general, not even Travis’, so what the hey, keep it simple. This should be expeditious for McNamara, since Michael seems to need to change his password each time he comments.
I was thinking of getting rid of RSS feeds to encourage people to come to my actual site because, heck, I put a lot time into it and would like the gratification. Admit it, you all want people to come to your sites too. I’m leaving them in for now, but we’ll see how it goes. I suppose if I took them away nobody would ever visit my site anyway.
One last thing: I’m including the same links to your sites as my old blog, so if there are any changes, additions or deletions — I can understand how association with me could harm a career – just let me know. I like to be accommodating, as long as it’s convenient.
